Seal River Cemetery

The Seal River Cemetery near Rosburg, Washington is accessible off of State Route 4 near milepost 14 — if such milepost could be found. (It appears to have vanished. No worry: Milepost 15 is at the Rosburg Cemetery in “downtown” Rosburg; Milepost 13 is two miles to the west, three valleys from Rosburg. Seal River Cemetery is in between, near the largest of the valleys, near Seal River Road.)

NOTE: Travelers from the east, coming through Lonview from I-5, should understand that there are extensive delays on SR 4 near the County Line Park, as you enter Wahkiakum County. (See the WSDOT website.) The delays can be as long as 45 minutes. Oregon travelers might wish to consider driving on the south side of the Columbia River to Westport, take the $3 ferry ride to Puget Island and north to Cathlamet, then turn west on SR 4 (see the official ferry site). Of course, the ferry runs across the channel once per hour, so a wait might be expected there, too.

Below is a map showing where on Highway 4 (the Seal River Cemetery is the second furthest west — that is, on the map, second furthest left — in Wahkiakum County):

Try Google Maps for help. But the map below is more accurate, as far as placement of the driveways:

It would be heartening to say, You can't miss it, but that would be far from the truth. You can miss it! Easily. The sign readily gets lost in the roadside underbrush:

But it is also not impossible to find. So, good luck! For more information, see these sites:
